TJCC Recap: The Coolest Posts of 2009

095Post written by Laura Cococcia. You can follow Laura on Twitter.

All I keep thinking about lately is how grateful I am not to have to worry about the Y2K frenzy this year like I did 10 years ago. For those of you who were too young to remember or didn’t care, don’t worry. Nothing happened anyway.

So, with my accessible, correctly dated computer, I’d like to share some of the 2009 “Coolest of TJCC” as noted by comments, magical algorithms and your e-mails to us.

So here it is – straight from the TJCC library. Of course, you’re always welcome to add your own favorite.

The Power of Design Thinking. Christa is always sharing her new discoveries and fascinating perspectives. This one was no different and is definitely worth checking out for those of you looking to learn about and/or pursue creative careers.

Interview with Anita Diamant. Personally, this was one of the most exciting moments in my life.  Diamant is the author or two of my favorite books, The Red Tent and Day After Night. To be able to chat with her – and then see her speak in NYC months later – was one of the best gifts of the year.

DC: Capital of Cool? Amazing article by Amanda Hirsch and one of the TJCC posts with the most comments. Not just the “hey, that was a great post” comments, but “let’s discuss whether or not I agree and why” comments.

Book Review: The Cheese Monkeys. The amazing Josh Hanagarne does it again. He taught me everything I know. I also had a chance to interview him this year. Does that count as 2 cool posts?

Sexism and the Soda. Thank you Josh Grau (fabulous friend and funniest man alive) for drawing some real, meaningful cultural connections.

And many thanks to all of our regular and guest contributors – as well as our faithful readers – you are amazing teachers, explorers and learners.  Looking forward to our journey in 2010!
